All tucked away

Our cars have never been so dirty and neglected as they have been over the past month or two. Saturday we spent most of the day cleaning out the garage and organizing as it's starting to frost here. Also it was really nice out and cleaning the garage sounded better than being stuck in the house. We didn't inherit the garage door clickers so we had to get some universal ones and program them. This garage is awesome and has plenty of room for us to be parked in it and Adam to be working on a project so we also hung tennis balls from the ceiling telling us the precise point to park. Yesterday Adam spent some time washing and waxing the cars in preparation for winter and cleaning them out.

All tucked away. Clean and cozy. They look happy don't they? :)

The Great Flood of 118

Ok, ok. Not really the great flood but it's been doing some raining around here this week and our basement sure is leaking.

We had the basement guys out on Wednesday and they are going to do this to our basement. They pretty much dig around the basement and put in a channel that drains into a sump pump. They are scheduled out until Dec. 2nd though so that kind of stinks because I want to store stuff down in the basement and we can't really do that until we know for sure the floor will be dry. It also leaves dirt wherever there was water so then that gets tracked up into the house. The kitty litter box is down there so we have little paw prints going up the stairs and into the kitchen. :)

Weekend House Updates

Saturday I got up and painted the floor in the only remaining bedroom w/o finished flooring with Kilz. Then I primed the bathroom. While waiting for both of those to dry we finally got to assemble a living room! Adam had finished the flooring in there sometime last week so it was waiting.

and then we went to work on the flooring in the last bedroom and landing until we ran out with just a little left to go.

We still have a little strip along the side of the room also but at least it's now usable.

Sunday we moved some more stuff in and got the office sort of set up

and I GOT A LOT OF MY CRAFT ROOM BROUGHT INTO THE HOUSE!!! Can you tell I'm excited? :)

It's by no means all organized yet but I could create something if I had the time.
I spent most of the rest of the day working on the horse cake and Adam brought in some dirt and put it up against the side of the house because we knew it was going to rain.
Toward the end of the day Adam's dad came over and helped him put the flooring down in the bathroom. We're officially getting closer to being able to walk around barefoot in this place. We also caulked and sealed the shower AND WE GOT TO TAKE A SHOWER!!! It's amazing. Unreal how nice it is to be able to stretch your arms out and up while taking a shower. Ahhhh. Life is better now :)

Our "pretty" shower curtain is still doing it's duty as the curtain in our master bedroom...
Adam is worried about water sitting in the window so we put a shower curtain up on the back side of the shower also. I didn't really like this idea but once I put it up it really isn't that big of a deal.

And the little nook we created by moving the wall? Fits my plastic drawers and stuff just fine for the moment until we have time to create something nice.

It really is amazing to have a fully functioning bathroom again. It's the small things - even just having a place to hang your towel so it doesn't have to sit on the back of the kitchen stools :)

We also decided this weekend we are going to go ahead and get all new appliances. The dishwasher has a persistent smell, the fridge has a drip that I have no idea where it comes from and the ice maker doesn't work and the stove........well it's really nice but in order to keep the heat in:

Yeah...

That's all I got for now. It rained yesterday and we went home last night and curled up on the couch and watched Boston Legal episodes courtesy of Netflix. It was so nice to not work for once. I'm sure we'll be back to the grind tonight.

Birthday Party

Monday night was Abby's birthday party which is why I haven't had time to take pics until last night. I got her an Easy Bake Frosting Pen so she can help me with cakes and some fun socks (look in the foreground of the pic)

She also got a Nintendo DS (Hanna Montana style of course) which she was SO excited about.

Look at this little stinker getting into trouble.

Finally - the weekend report

When you have to drive to your home town twice in two days, spending 8 hours in the car can get a little boring. What do you do? Take random pics to try and figure out your new camera that has too many setting for you to figure out.
I took some pics of the world zooming by.
Aperture setting:

Shutter Speed setting:

Hmm, not much different.

Focus on something up close

Focus on something far away

I'm an auto focus girl because up until now I've had a point and shoot but I suppose as I learn more about my DSLR I'll be learning the world of manual focus.

So, what did I go to my home town twice in two days for? I had a funeral on Thursday and had to work on Friday so I went back and came home. Then I had to go back on Friday to see my niece. She was an attendant for our high school homecoming.

So Cute!

Horse Cake

My sister-in-law has been in love with my cake decorating magazines. She looks through them when she they're sitting out and when I had to make the black and white wedding cake and our house was a mess and I was Adam's parents house making it and Abby and her mom walked out the door. 3 seconds later, Abby comes clomping back in the house, sets the magazine down and clomps back out the door. Guess she wanted to look again :) Anyway her birthday was on Monday so I had asked her what kind of cake she wanted me to make her. She said she wanted a horse on it. Later she told me that she wanted a bunny and kitty on it also.

I wish that I would have had more time to work on this cake but it turned out ok.
The horse is a little too much of a chunky monkey.

Although my husband kept popping in the kitchen asking if I was done yet and ready to go eat and told me I didn't need to make the bunny and kitty, I made them anyway :) The bunny turned out pretty cute and the kitty...well I won't be uploading pics of that :)

And Abby liked it so I guess that is all I can ask for.

2 down...

many many more to go.

Approximately 5 years ago I was sitting in class working on this exact drawing

when I hear a voice beside me say "Did you have a good weekend?" Startled, I looked over and the guy was looking at me. I'm thinking "Who is this guy? How very random of him to ask me how my weekend was." I check out his drawing

Hmmm. Pretty good. (Notice our different drawing styles. I like charcoal, he draws in pencil. I zoom in on the detail, he draws the whole setting)
We exchanged a few sentences and I went back to drawing not really giving it a second thought. A week later we're back at our drawings and I'm in my little world and I hear "So, anything fun going on this weekend?" It's him again. Talking to me. "Well actually, we're having a Halloween party in my quad if you'd like to drop by." Everyone came to these parties at my college so inviting some random classmate wasn't a big deal. A quad is where we lived. 4 bedrooms, living room and a bathroom. And I went back to drawing.

He did in fact show up at that party and he was dressed in costume. He showed up as a woman stuffed bra and all. Weirdo.

2 years ago today, I married that weirdo

and I have to say that I still kinda like him. Weirdness and all.

I found out later that he in fact stalked me in that class. Well not really but kinda. He noticed me from afar and when we would frequently switch the spots we were sitting in he'd try and position himself beside me. Good thing he did or I might never of noticed him and I wouldn't have my cozy little house with our cute little kitty and a weirdo hubby that giggles every time he watches Boston Legal.

I have a picture of him dressed as a woman somewhere. At the moment who knows where that somewhere would be but maybe some day I'll find it and upload it for you all to see.

Happy Anniversary honey. Love you! Wanna go get your favorite meal of ALL time tonight?!? :)

Cutest Halloween Buckets Ever!

If I do say so myself. :)

My co-worker found this idea in the Paper Crafts magazine and so Vanessa and I had a crafts night last night and made these to send to our nieces(and one extra for my little Sis-in-law).

They turned out pretty cute! They already have some goodies inside so please try and look past that. I'll try and take pics later w/o stuff inside.

Ahhh. Decor

My new mantle. I'm going to have fun decorating this.

I finished sanding the drywall in the bathroom on Monday night so I was finally able to clean up and do some organizing.
Bathtub at the beginning of the night:

Bathtub at the end of the night:

Here is our bathroom at the moment:

Last night we got to go see Adams sister run in one of her cross country meets. She won! I think she's now 6 out of 7 for gold medals in her cross country career. It's different than I thought a cross country meet would be. You don't see them run the whole thing but at this one there were points where she'd pop out somewhere and you could see her. I guess this was a small one and I can't imagine what state would be like with 100 people at the starting line. I didn't know we were going to go so I didn't have my camera. Darn!

We got our amoire moved into the bedroom last night so we officially have all our clothing in one room (except for the stuff still out in the garage and the stuff still waiting to be washed....yes, I'm not done with wash yet). Notice our nice shower curtain we are using for a curtain? Pretty sweet.

Adams dad came over to help with the flooring last night and they made some progress until it was too late to run the saw and air compressor.

I organized and organized some more. I think I have our closet pretty well done. I'm sure I'll make changes but for now it's functional.

Weekend Misc.

I figured I'd break things out for this weekend report because they sometimes get kinda long so after the cake, flooring, painting and million bushes pictures here is the rest that got done this weekend. (Meaning scroll down and read the next 3 or 4 posts too)

My deep freeze finally arrived and made the trip down to the basement!

Adam installed the vanity and sink in the bathroom and I got a little more sanding done.

We got our new furnace!

This is the old one

It's a 92% efficient one so it vents out the front of the house.

And these caps go over top of it. I need to take finished pics.

Here's the layers of our house

Kitty didn't get any nap time in on Sat. so by the end of the day she was totally zonked.

Then she woke up wanting to play. (Even though she is NOT supposed to be on the counter)

If you ever have a bad day, go to YouTube and watch cat videos. No way you won't laugh.

Sunday I had a PC thing most of the day so when I got home Adam had the master room all put together. Ladies and Gents, we finally have something FINISHED! Our bedroom!

Well, except for adding another piece of furniture, decorating, putting in new vent covers, curtains....
I don't care. It's done enough for me!

An up close look

Now, if only that bathroom were done......
