New Appliances
We got our appliances this weekend! The fridge had to be shipped but it got here today. We got all white appliances and didn't worry about them all matching however we did match the range and microwave(though not necessarily because we care that much - i just liked them both). Here's some pics:
The Microwave (GE Eterna) has a sensor in it which means that you can just hit reheat and it'll heat anything you put in it to hot. You can even walk away from popcorn (I haven't tried this yet and I'll believe it when I see it)
GE (Eterna) does a nice job with their ranges. The grates are nice and heavy duty and both pieces of the burner come out for easy cleaning.
This is a bad pic and the grates on top are way lighter grey than they look here
The dishwasher(Maytag) has a top rack that slides up and down to allow for more flexibility to add bigger things on top and bottom.
It would have been nice to get a french door fridge (LG) since the kitchen is skinny but we didn't see any that would fit in our opening. This guy will do just fine and I'm super excited to have a bottom freezer model. We had them switch the door to the other side also.
We got them mostly set in place on Sunday night and guess what - we found more mold under and behind things when we pulled them out. BUT, it's gone now and we know it's clean. We also found this surprise under the stove.
Yuck.
I took Monday off to do some organizing and thankfully got rid of some boxes laying around.
The craft room at the beginning of the day
and at the end
Here was the office at the beginning of the day
and at the end
We still have a long way to go for these rooms to be pretty and the way we really want them but for now the house feels more like a home w/o the boxes.
I brought in a very industrial looking shelving unit to put stuff on but needed to soften it up a little. It also has little bars going across it so it can be a pain to slide things off and on.
SO, shelving unit
meet cardboard and fabric
and put office crap on it
We got the towel hooks hung up in the bathroom and one painting hung! Maybe we can start decorating a little!
I also started taking some of the decorative thingies around the door knobs on the cabinets as I don't really like them and some of them are doing this:

Missing Pictures
I thought that I uploaded all the pics that I wanted last night but I can't find some of them so I guess I'll wait until tomorrow to post any updates about the house. I do however have some pics from other events that happened this weekend.
First off, not only is miss Carol a queen, she's also a silver medalist!
She won third place at State Cross Country. Not bad for it being her first year even attempting to run cross country.
In preparation for the big run I decorated her car for her on Thursday and made her some signs.
I had to decorate the inside of it because it was pouring out all week but I did get the windows painted because that is rain proof :)
Second, we had a wedding this weekend. It was a couple friends from high school and she also went to college with me so I knew a lot of people there. It was fun and of course she was beautiful and the wedding was perfect. It was actually a funny wedding and the unity candle was out of control. The priest had to go blow it out in the middle of the ceremony. He assured us they were still married though.
My nieces were also there. Here's the conversation that led up to this picture:
Older one: "Hey, Jessica is trying to take a picture of us"
Little one: she just keeps dancin.
Older one: tugging on the little one "HEY, Jessica is trying to take a picture of us!"
Little one: dance, dance, dance....
Older one: with pretty much a death grip on the little ones hand now, "Look at Jessica!"
And we finally get a picture. This girl knows how to pose!
Like I said, there is more to come from the weekend including something to do with this guy...

You know you're old when...
you get excited and have to go tell your husband about how the pizza pan fits sitting upright in the new dishwasher you got(more to come on this later) and he responds with a real answer about how impressed he is also. :)
Cute Burp Rags
I made some cute burp rags for Adams cousins baby shower this weekend. I got the idea from Natalie over at Our Old Southern House.
They were super easy to make and not expensive at all either!
After the shower Adam's grandma brought me over some cookies that were at the shower. She thought I could make these to sell along with my cakes. These are also super cute.

Bye Bye Leeloo
She is gone. We sold her. Onto her next owner.
I have to say that I'm a little sad. She's kinda the perfect car. But when I think about it I miss the other cars that have been in our lives too.
I miss this pretty gal some days. Bernadine. She was fun.
Do I even have to say that I miss this car?
Eleanor. Oh Eleanor. Hope to see you again some day.
At the moment I miss this truck. Our current truck isn't making Adam happy and we're trying to re-sell it and it hasn't sold and I just want the old one back.
SO. We were supposed to be getting a different truck after the car and truck sold but I got a call from my silly hubby this morning with a new idea that maybe we could get an Eleanor the third!!!!
Have I told you lately that we change our minds a lot?

Ribbon Organization
While there are many ways out there to organize all the ribbon you accumulate, I have decided to make a box for mine out of an old shoe box.
The one that I picked was even broken. See the top right flap?
That is an easily fixable problem. I simply added an embellishment to the corner.
I started out by covering the box with paper and then I punched a bunch of holes in the front of the box and used my Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite to add eyelets. Then I added the ribbon.
It's not finished yet. I still need to add embellishments, make the broken edge a little prettier and clean up some of the edges of the paper but I wanted to share :)
Do I really think this will work? I'm not totally convinced it will but I thought I'd give it a try before spending money on some other method. Why wouldn't it work?
I have a feeling they might get tangled.
There are products out there that do this same thing such as this one but I'm not sure what is going on inside those.
If it doesn't work - oh well, I have a pretty box to store other stuff in. Other solutions I'm thinking of if it doesn't work: I might try these ribbon cards or these embellishment boxes.
I inherited a cork board wall with the house so I'm going to use it as my inspiration wall. Instead of adding pretty layouts that I've found/done or pictures, I've decided to put up some sketches that I got off of Valerie Salmons Sketch Blog. That way I can use these to inspire multiple layouts from each sketch. This is all I have up so far and I need to continue to make it "pretty".

Snow is in the forecast for the week so I thought I'd bring you some snowflakes. It's cold out here!

Organizing Fabric
I brought more stuff into the house this weekend that needed to be organized. I figured I better start my craft room off the right way and attacked my pile of fabric.
I cut off a flap from a cardboard box and squared it off.
Toward the end (of course) I found that I had some fabric on a cardboard from the store and the cardboard box flap was almost the exact same size only shorter.
I then started to roll my fabric onto the flap
until it was finished
Then I took something that would give me a consistent length. For those sewing scrapbookers out there, in my case I used my standard Sizzix cutting pad.
Folded
and folded again
For smaller scrap pieces I used my Sizzix decorative strip cutting pad and rolled the fabric around it.
Then I took a ruler and folded these to 5.5 inches.
And continue on and on. I don't have a very big stash and this probably took me an hour.
As you can see not everything folds just perfectly but that is ok. I then went ahead and organized by color. I know some organize by fabric type but since I don't have that much this will work for me.

Weekend Misc.
Since we had to clean out the garage this weekend, we finally brought the kitchen table in. I of course, was excited to decorate it.
Now, if we only had stools......
All the rock that came out of the back yard went up against the garage so that we didn't have to worry about keeping weeds down there but I guess Adam decided he didn't like that idea and took the bobcat to it. He smoothed it out and leveled it with the alley.
Friday night we went to Mead's Homecoming as Adams sister was a candidate for queen. The football team won and Carol was crowned!
Congrats Carol! It was also realized that every single child in their family has won some sort of queen/king and now the pressure is on for Abby.
